Mercedes-Benz Cars UK Managing Director Gary Savage has been named as one of the UK’s Outstanding Automotive Leaders at the Autocar Awards – the first time this title has been awarded to the same person twice.
Autocar’s editor, Mark Tisshaw, presented the award at a ceremony at Silverstone on 15 May. He commented: “Mercedes has gone from strength to strength under Gary's leadership, making it the leader in the premium segment and with another year of record sales in 2017.”
On receiving the award, Gary Savage said: “To win this award for a second time is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our team at Mercedes-Benz Cars UK and across all our retail partners – without them, our position as the UK’s number one premium manufacturer last year would not have been possible. Our retailers are on the frontline so the part they play in the success of Mercedes-Benz is huge.”
In 2017, Mercedes-Benz Cars UK achieved its eighth consecutive record year with total sales of over 179,000 and a seven per cent market share. The brand finished the year as the number one premium brand in the UK and the fourth biggest car brand overall.
