Biturbo induction

The biturbo engine under the bonnet of the Mercedes-AMG S 63 L produces its exceptional levels of performance, economy and low emissions through an innovative combination of high-tech features. These include spray-guided direct-injection, twin turbo-chargers, four valves per cylinder with camshaft adjustment, air/water intercooling, alternator management and a weight-optimised Mercedes-AMG sports exhaust with chromed double twin tailpipes that contribute to the engine’s engaging soundtrack.

SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed sports transmission for personal set-up

The Mercedes-AMG S 63 L features a Mercedes-AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed sports transmission with four modes – ‘C’ (Controlled Efficiency), ‘S’ (Sport), ‘S+’ (Sport Plus) and ‘M’ (Manual) for maximum individuality and customisable dynamics, dynamism enhanced by an automatic double-declutching function for downshifting and the RACE START function.

Differential lock on the rear axle

The Mercedes-AMG S 63 L is fitted with a Mercedes-AMG rear axle limited-slip differential lock as standard, resulting in a further increase in traction, ultimately leading to even greater driving dynamics and enhanced driving enjoyment.

Mercedes-AMG Lightweight Performance – up to 100 kg lighter than before

This weight saving was achieved largely due to Mercedes-AMG forged light-alloy wheels, a lightweight lithium-ion battery and a weight-optimised Mercedes-AMG high-performance composite braking system. Furthermore, the entire outer skin of the S-Class, including the roof and the front end of the body, is made of aluminium. Installing a spare wheel recess made of carbon fibre reduces the weight by a further four kilogrammes.

Innovative technology

The Mercedes-AMG S 63 L has an impressive line-up of standard equipment which includes the Driving Assistance Package, Front Seat Comfort Package, panoramic sunroof, Keyless Go Package, the mighty 590 W Burmester® Surround Sound System with 13 speakers and nine-channel DSP amplifier, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Ambient Lighting over and above the standard equipment offered – representing over £8,400 of added value.

The world’s first suspension with ‘eyes’

If ROAD SURFACE SCAN detects unevenness via the Stereo Multi-Purpose Camera, MAGIC BODY CONTROL instantaneously sets up the suspension to deal with the situation. The ‘eyes’ are provided by the camera fitted behind the windscreen, which scans the road up to 15 metres ahead. The vehicle then adjusts the damping of each wheel to a tauter or softer setting in advance or the load in the wheel via an active hydraulic system.
